ADHD Iceberg Podcast

This is 'The ADHD Iceberg Podcast' with Bridges Graduate School students Catherine, Sarah, Mariela, Katrina, Sophie, Jessica, and Val. Through personal narratives and stories of lived experiences, we discuss the strengths, challenges and implications of living with ADHD in the home, at school, and at work. Join us as we explore the entirety of the paradoxical ADHD brain with all its complexities, contradictions, and hidden gifts. So welcome! Let’s dive right in!

* In this podcast mini-series, we made the conscious choice to use 'individuals with ADHD' and 'ADHDers' interchangeably.

Katrina O'Neil Cred Talk

In an effort to expand my neurodiversity advocacy beyond just one family – my own – I have now devoted myself to building bridges between the education community that has done so much research in giftedness, neurodiversity, twice-exceptionality, and learning differences and three other communities I am a part of – parenting, Russophone, and tech. Through my writing, speaking at conferences, and conducting research, I hope to spread awareness and acceptance of neurodivergent individuals at home, at school, and in the workplace.

The Woes of Wit: Supporting Extreme Asynchrony

Twice-exceptional students – especially those with extreme asynchrony – struggle to fit into the traditional educational system due to their unique needs and lack of appropriate teacher and school resources.  Many of these students experience toxic stress caused by inappropriate learning environment. While revolutionizing existing educational system will take time, an interim solution exists. In this session, we explore home school as an alternative for twice-exceptional learners with extreme asynchrony.

Wearing Multiple Hats: A Story of One Cybersecurity Professional Parenting Two Neurodivergent Youngsters

Having been in the AppSec space for 20 years, I faced my most important challenge when I became a parent to two neurodivergent kids. Supporting neurodiversity at home, at school, and in the workplace is key as diversity of any kind is what drives innovation. Here is how I came to embrace it.

7 Ways to Hang Yourself with Google Android

In this talk we discuss seven of the most interesting code--level security mistakes we've seen developers make in Android applications. We cover common errors ranging from the promiscuous or incorrect use of Android permissions to lax input validation that enables a host of exploits, such as query string injection. We discuss the root cause of each vulnerability, describe how attackers might exploit it, and share the results of our research applying static analysis to identify the issue. Specifically, we will show our successes and failures using static analysis to identify each type of vulnerability in real-world Android applications.
